Because of their unique intellectual abilities and developmental profile, gifted children often benefit from specialized programming that is able to meet their academic, social, and emotional needs. Admission into gifted educational programs most often relies on the results of an intellectual assessment, such as the WISC-V or the WPPSI-IV. In some cases, an academic evaluation, such as the WIAT-III, is also required.
At Yellow Kite, we structure our gifted assessments to provide families with comprehensive information that can be used to make the optimal educational decisions for their children. As always, we work hard to create a relaxed and genuinely enjoyable assessment experience, to enable children to perform to their fullest potential. Our feedback meeting and report will provide you with all of the information necessary for applications and educational planning.
- For families applying to Westmount Charter School, we recommend scheduling testing between early September and mid-November, to have everything completed in time for the application deadline.
- For families applying to the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program with the Calgary Board of Education, we recommend scheduling testing between September and mid-January, to have everything completed in time for the application deadline.
Running late? Life happens! If the application deadlines have snuck up on you, please do not hesitate to give us a call. If possible, we will do our utmost to squeeze you into our calendar and have the final assessment report ready for you in time!
